Invisible Grill Maintenance Guide: Keep Your Grills Perfect

4 min read · 2024-09-20

One of the biggest advantages of 316-grade stainless steel invisible grills is how little maintenance they require. Unlike traditional iron grills that demand regular painting and rust treatment, invisible grills need only minimal attention to stay in perfect condition for decades.

Monthly Cleaning

Wipe down the cables with a clean, damp cloth monthly — or whenever you notice visible dust or grime. For Bangalore apartments with heavy construction nearby (common in rapidly developing areas), cleaning more frequently may be needed during peak construction seasons.

Quarterly Deep Clean

Every 3 months, clean the cables with a mild soap solution (dish soap diluted 1:10 in water) using a soft cloth. Wipe in the direction of the cable, not across it, to avoid catching fibres in the cable coating. Rinse with clean water and allow to dry. This is especially important for ground-floor or lake-adjacent apartments.

Annual Inspection

Once a year, do a thorough physical inspection: check each cable for any visible kinking or fraying, tap the cables to feel for any that have lost tension (a properly tensioned cable gives a clear, firm resistance), and inspect all anchor points and channel mounting screws for any signs of corrosion or loosening.

Tensioning Check

Cable tension can reduce slightly over the first year of installation as cables settle. If you notice any cable that deflects more than 10–15mm under firm pressure, call MKR Safety Solutions for a free tensioning check. We adjust tension during our annual maintenance visits at no charge within the warranty period.

What NOT to Do

Never use abrasive cleaners, steel wool, or scouring pads on the cables — these will scratch the surface and can damage the nylon coating. Never use bleach or chlorine-based cleaners. Do not apply oil, grease, or WD-40 to the cables — these attract dust and can degrade the cable coating over time.
